Our Statement of Faith

First and foremost we believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God the Holy Spirit (2 Timothy 3:15-17).
We take the great commission given to us by our Lord Jesus equally as important (Matthew 28:16-20).
We believe there is only one God.
We believe that the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit are God.
We believe in the virgin birth of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ (Luke 1:29-35).
We believe Jesus Christ, the Son, is fully God and fully human. He lived a sinless life, died for the sins of humankind, was resurrected bodily on the third day, ascended into heaven and is coming again as King and Judge. Jesus Christ is the only provision that God has given for people to be reconciled to Him. (John 14:6; Acts 4:12)
We believe in the pre-millennial rapture of the church (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18).
We believe in pre-destination accompanied by eternal salvation (Romans 8:30-39).
We believe at the final judgment, God will assign all people their eternal destinies-either life or judgment. Those who have responded to Jesus Christ with saving faith will receive the eternal life they have already been promised (John 5:24), while others will live under eternal judgment.
Therefore, because eternal issues are at stake, there is an urgency to communicate the gospel. (Matthew 25:46; 2 Thessalonians 1:5-10)

Bread of Life Outreach Ministries
We were founded in 2000.
Bob, Ed, Alistair, and Don having a heart for the Lord and wanting all to come to know His glory decided that there was a ministry for the needy and homeless people in our community.
After several meetings in late 1999 it was decided that services could be held at the local Food Bank called the Bread Basket. It was felt because of the location and that the people we were trying to reach went there for physical food that we could minister Spiritual food on Sundays.
The logical name would be 'The Bread of Life Outreach Ministries'.
And as they say in the Bible "It came to pass." We were unable to get letters patent on the name for 2 reasons. 1 we can't register common terms or scripture and 2, only government can register the word ministry, ministries, etc. or churches registered with the societies act. But we were advised we could use the name providing there was no conflict, and at the time there was none.

With Ed in charge of the music ministry, he decided we needed to hold a 'Praisefest' in our first year (2001). We raised money for equipment by picking up garbage along the road for the Hiways Department.
With the money we purchased a 6 channel 200 watt amp, 2 Yamaha speakers, 3 mics with stands, 2 music stands, and an overhead projector.
We added to the group, we were now 4 Pentecostals, 3 Presbyterians, 2 Baptists, and 1 Brethren. Bob, Alex, and Alistair handled the sermons. Early on the word was mainly regarding salvation as we tried to win souls.
Ed used his computer talents and made up posters that he placed all around town and along the river.
He also made up tracts and service bulletins to hand out to the people that attended the services.
Bob, Ed and Larry walked along the river spreading the word to the natives and drug users. Several very long prayer sessions were held, even 2 on a mountain top.

The Praise Hymn Singers
After several meetings were held regarding music during services, we formed a band.
Harley on lead vocal and guitar, Larry on lead guitar and Ed on rhythm guitar, Alistair on keyboard, Allan on Bass and backup female vocals by Harley's wife Lynn, and the twins.
And so the Praise Hymn Singers were born and registered with bandname.com.
The praisefest was held on the August long weekend and it was the only place on Vancouver Island that it didn't rain. Thanks to much prayer and the assurance of Ed that God never rains on his parade.
We heard that 'Joyfest' up island got rained out and some of our performers that were doing double duty, playing for us and for Joyfest, almost didn't show up as they thought that we would be rained out.
But God was good and honored our prayers with cloudy but dry weather.
The Praise Hymn Singers have changed and encompass a group of performers that show up for different Sundays. Ed playing guitar and his wife backing him with vocals on the first and fifth Sundays, Allan on guitar with his wife backing him up with vocals, Alex brings 2 young ladies with him from Victoria to play guitar and sing, Karen on keyboard on the fourth Sunday
Praise God!
